Dr Pradnya Manwatkar  is a practicing Medical and Cosmetic Dermatolgist based in Mumbai. She completed her MBBS from MGM College, Aurangabad in 2005 and a diploma in Dermatology (DDVL) from Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune in 2008. She has had a privilege of learning from various stalwarts in dermatology – Dr Mohan Gharpuray and  Dr Vidyadhar Sardesai She honed her cosmetology skills with a year long practical experience and training in Nanavati Research Center. To further her experience she worked as a senior registrar under the able guidance of Dr Uday Khopkar in the KEM hospital, Parel. She started her private practice in 2009 and currently operates her own clinic-  Skin Matra  in Mahim, Mumbai.

 

At her clinic, she provides a variety of dermatology & cosmetic dermatology treatments including state of the art Microneedle RF for Acne Scars, IPL for laser hair removal and Hair Transplantation (FUE),  various Plastic Surgeries like Breast  Augmentation, Tummy Tucks, and Mommy Make Overs  to name a few. A holistic approach to skin care is her prime intention and with that in mind, she also provides  Diet Consulting at the clinic by a certified dietitian.  She firmly believes a lot of skin issues need active counselling and  more than just medication. She has hosted multiple sessions on psychosomatic issues for her patients in collaboration with psychologists in her clinic, personally attending the sessions and educating people about issues like fairness creams and their side effects, hair loss, acne scars, pigmentation treatments etc. She recently completed her training hours in REBT- Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy , and actively counsels her patients to ensure better treatment outcomes. The awareness about The Brain- Skin Link is what she is working towards creating.

Her vision has been very clear and simple:

• Promote the idea of a ‘healthy’ skin rather than the perfect skin

• Create a population of people who understand that skin care is a life style modification and needs a holistic approach

• Create a population who are aware of their skin care needs and do not fall prey to hearsay or the social media

• Creating a population of people who understand that skin care is not periodic and that it is process. A process which requires a simple understanding of how one’s skin is.

She frequently engages in continuing medical education, attending workshops and conferences and is a life member of Indian Association of Dermatology, Venerology and Leprology (IADVL), Cosmetic Dermatologists Society of India (CDSI) and the Association of Cutaneous Surgeons of India.

Outside of Academics, she has pursued acting and is seen in a lot of TV commercials, Plays and Films, of which 2 are in her mother tongue- the Marathi language, in which she played the lead role. Her latest film is in Hindi -Jagga  Jasoos. Her love for writing has led her to finish her first Romance Novel, which is due to get published by the end of 2020. Apart from this, she loves to engage herself in painting and dancing as well.
